Unfortunately, no more Sundays from January till the end of the school year due to financial reasons.

There will be no badminton for the next two weeks and we will resume playing on January 8th.

Hi members, we will have badminton on the following dates for December 2012:

December 4 (Tuesday)
December 6 (Thursday)
December 18 (Tuesday)
December 20 (Thursday)

And the time will be the same: 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

Perkin double winner at Kamloops Open Badminton tournament.

The highly anticipated meeting of the top seeds in the men’s doubles draw met everyone’s expectations as Alex Perkin and Garrett Babichuk beat Charmaine Reid and Nicole Grether 21-13, 21-17 in the finals. The men, former TRU teammates, were able to get by the ladies, Canadian and German Olympians, in a match highlighted by long rallies and excellent defenses.

Perkin then joined forces with TRU’s Anica Arduini to win the mixed doubles title with a tight 21-19, 18-21, 21-17 battle over Brad Pape and Sonja Drummond, both from Kamloops.

Reid and Grether dominated the ladies division by winning the doubles title over Jennifer Eastwood of Kamloops and Lisa Davison of Prince George and then Grether took the singles title by beating her partner in two straight games.

TRU’s Noah Woods was pressured in both his last two matches but was able to squeak out a 21-17, 26-24 win in men’s singles over Babichuk.

Hi folks, hope you all have had a great summer. Our regular badminton nights start the coming Tuesday September 4th from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, so come out and have some fun!

The Kamloops Badminton Club will be taking a summer holiday from June 29th until Sept 4th. With very small turnouts and expensive court costs, there appears to be little reason to book Tuesday nights during the summer.

Badminton continues this week – June 26th and 28th from 8 pm to 10 pm. Come on out and get one last hit in before the weather turns sunny.

Have a great summer everyone and get ready to play in September.
